9 Reasons To Date A Guy Who Travels

It is no doubt that there are a lot of fishes in the sea. But trust me, girls, if you have never dated a guy who loves travelling before in your life, you are missing out on a very good piece of fish. A VERY good piece of fish, might I add.

Now I know you would not be so easily convinced, but here’re 9 reasons why you should date a guy who travels at least once in your life:

1. He will always have a story to tell, always.

A guy who travels has seen a lot. And he has a lot of really interesting stories up his sleeves,  which will keep the relationship very interesting. A “How’s Your Day?” question could lead to an array of stories related to how his day was, regardless of how normal it was and before you know it, you are actively engaged in that story yourself. A conversation with a guy who travels will never be boring.

2. He will bring you to “out of the ordinary” type of dates.

Bored of the usual movie and dinner date? Well, a guy who travels feels the same as well. The same type of date doesn’t excite them anymore. And that is why they will ask you out on dates and plan up to make sure it’s different. A hike at a local hill, an outdoor ATV excursion, a day of surfing at the beach or a session of night geocaching. No matter what it is, a guy who travels thrives in being the different one.

3. He will not buy you expensive items. BUT he will buy you experiences. 

A guy who travels knows that an expensive watch can go missing or can be broken. The same goes for a beautiful car, which will eventually age with time and be replaced. He also knows that one of the most time-proof gifts that he can give to his partner is an unforgettable experience, one that will be there until the end of the day. He will always choose to spend on experience rather than materials, for he knows which will last longer in a girl’s heart.

4. His thirst for adventure is highly addictive.

The air around him spells adventure, in capital letter and you can’t help but be dragged into it. You will realize that a month or two into the relationship, you will start stepping out of your comfort zone and start doing things you never imagined you would have agreed to before this. And you like the feeling. You like the feeling a lot. In fact, you won’t even realize that you are addicted to it.

5. He will be good at a large variety of life skills 

If he can fix his snapped backpack cord on the go, or make a rain catchment system using nothing but a bag and a bottle, don’t worry ladies, he got the house chores covered. Whether it’s plumbing or fixing your car, a guy who travels will always find a solution. Now, this is not because they are particularly smart, no, not at all. This is because through years of travel, they have improved their skills to adapt on the road and they know how important it is for them to survive. So ladies, if you have a leaking pipe, you know he will be there for you.

6. He is highly sociable and mixes well with your group of friends.

A guy who travels knows how to socialize with people, regardless of their skin colour, religion or beliefs. They have learned that through travelling, that it will be a lonely journey if you do not make new friends. And the skills acquired will be very useful in social situations. They will not be the awkward wallpaper or the subtle Joe, but almost most of the time the light of the group. And they have great stories to tell remember?

7. He knows how to appreciate the simple things in life. 

A quiet coffee on a rainy day, or a beautiful walk down the beach on an evening, a guy who travels appreciates the simplest moments in life that people miss out on. They tend to find pleasure in simplicity and would never complain about how bored or pointless the moments are. They just embrace the now, with you.

8. He takes care good of his health and fitness 

A guy who travels knows that being on the road with a 20kg backpack strapped on his shoulders and his back is not an easy task. And that is why he takes particularly good care of his fitness and health as well. Without one or the other could spell a bad day of travel and he tries to avoid that.
Warning: He will be eye candy for other girls as well, so hold him tight and hold him close.

9. He knows how to respect you.

A guy who travels knows how to respect not only you but your privacy in life. He knows when to be clingy and when to let you enjoy your “me” time. He knows the difference between “cheating” and going out with a guy friend. He trusts the relationship and would not pick a fight over non-existent causes. He treats your family as well as he treats you because he knows how dear they are for you.
